On August 1, 2021 in Eden, NC, Ronnie Artis moved from his old house to a new building at age 75.  He was born to the late Mr. Manx Artis and Mrs. Viola Clark Artis of Eden, NC on June 2, 1946.

After graduating from Douglass High School in 1964, Ronnie went to St. Louis, Missouri where he attended Bailey Technical School while studying Mechanics.  Afterwards, he returned home where he attended RCC to study Accounting.  Later, he enlisted to serve our country in the US Air Force for four years, honorably discharged as Staff Sergeant from Minot, North Dakota Air Force Base.

He was a dedicated, devoted brother, husband, daddy, granddaddy and great granddaddy. He was married for 53 years to Vonzelle N. Artis.  To this union, they had two daughters, Rhonda O. Artis Smith-Taylor and Dori T. Artis Wilson (Terrance).

Ronnie worked for (Stroh's) American National Can, which is now Ball Can Plant, where he retired with over 30 years of service as a Mechanic.  He was a very soft-spoken man of many talents and an avid reader.  He enjoyed working puzzles, discussing the Bible, gardening and rebuilding cars.

Ronnie was a servant in God's house as a Deacon at St. John's Baptist Church in Axton, Virginia.  While there, he held many offices: Secretary of the Deacon Board, member of the Usher Board, Trustee, member of the Budget & Finance Committee, member of the Men's Choir and Sunday School Teacher until his health declined.  In his civic duties, he worked with the Rockingham Rescue Mission and he and his wife had a Senior/Birthday Card Ministry.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, David Clark, Billy Artis and Johnathan Artis; and his granddaughter, Addison T. Wilson.

Ronnie leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Vonzelle R. Artis; his daughters, Rhonda O. Artis Smith-Taylor and Dori T. Artis Wilson; his grandchild, Tyler D. Smith; his great grandchild, Malachi B.
