Roy "Gene" Slaughter, 72, of Reidsville passed away on Friday, February 10, 2023 at his residence.

A celebration of life service will be held on Friday, February 17, 2023 at 4 pm at Boone and Cooke Funeral Home Chapel. A visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the service from 3 until 4 pm at the funeral home and other times at 1104 Lindsey Street in Reidsville.

Gene was born in Eden on July 25, 1950 a son of Melvin Roy Slaughter and Anna Glidewell Slaughter, both deceased. He worked as a painter for most of his adult life.

He is survived by his wife, Jill Grogan Slaughter of Eden; his children, Tracy Slaughter Ellison and Mike of Reidsville and Michael Shane Slaughter of Eden; his siblings, Roy Melvin Slaughter, Jr. and Kim of Axton VA, Robert Slaughter and Vicky of Eden and Vickie Mae Smart and James of VA; his grandchildren, Joanna Corum and Ryan  and Deanna Ellison and Mike and his great grandchildren, Ayden Dix, Houston Dix, Gracie Dix, Ashton Gilley, Kyler Black, Myles Branson, Makenzie Corum, Ann-Marie Corum and Ryan Taylor Corum, Jr.

In addition to his parents, Gene was predeceased by his son, Jimmy Lee Slaughter and his sister, Patricia Ann Flint.
