Roy Melvin Slaughter, Jr., 70, of Ridgeway, Virginia passed away on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at his residence.

A graveside service will be held at 3 pm Friday, April 10, 2026, at Goodwill Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.  Friends may pay their respects from 1 until 5 pm on Thursday, April 9, 2026, at Boone & Cooke Funeral Home.

Roy was born in Rockingham County on June 5, 1955, a son of Roy Melvin Slaughter, Sr. and Anna Glidewell Slaughter, both deceased.  He was an evangelist who loved the Lord and his family. He was the best husband, father and grandfather.  He had unconditional love for his wife, children, and grandchildren, providing for their spiritual, physical and emotional needs.  We know how much he loved us and we loved him more than words.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Gene Slaughter; his sister, Ann Flint; and his granddaughter, Kayla Carter.

Roy is survived by his wife, Debra Kimberly Gantt Slaughter of the home; his children, Jennifer Slaughter Snody (Randy) of Eden and Dawn Dickey (Lee) of Virginia Beach, VA; his brother, Robert Slaughter (Vicky) of Eden; his sister, Vickie Slaughter (James Smart) of Axton, VA; and his grandchildren, Brett Dickey, Adam Dickey, Emily Snody, Madalynn Snody, Jacob Snody, Luke Snody, Benjamin Snody and Nathaniel Snody.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Boone & Cooke Funeral Home to assist with funeral expenses.
