Shelvia Jean Koontz, 86, of Eden passed away on Thursday, August 1, 2024, at Eden Rehab & Nursing Center.

Services will be held at a later date.

Shelvia was born in Hillsville, Virginia on August 4, 1937, a daughter of Thomas J. Burnette, Jr. and Dora Jane McClintock Burnette, both deceased.  She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.  She loved to sing.  She enjoyed going to yard sales to buy items to give away to others.

She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Stephen G. Koontz of the home; her sons, Bill Koontz (Connie) of Eden and Barry Koontz (Nicloe Ashby) of Virginia Beach, VA; her sister, Willie Draper of Martinsville, VA; her nine grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Hospice of Rockingham County, PO Box 281, Wentworth, NC 27375.
