Sonya Rebecca Ellison, 53, passed away on Monday, May 25, 2026, at her residence.

A celebration of Sonya’s life will be held on Monday, June 1, 2026, at 5pm at Boone and Cooke Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service, from 4 until 5 pm at the funeral home. The family will also receive friends on Sunday, May 31, 2026, from 1 until 3 pm at the home of Cathy Ellison at 1170 Virginia Street, Eden, NC.

Sonya was born in Eden on May 14, 1973, a daughter of Paul Pete Ellison and Irene Curry Ellison, both deceased. She worked as a CNA at Family Home Care. Sonya loved her family dearly. She enjoyed spending time with them more than anything, especially her children and her grandchildren. She loved spending time at the lake and fishing. She enjoyed gardening, flowers and cooking. One of her favorite hobbies was diamond painting.

Sonya is survived by her children, Devin Peeler (Brittany) of Eden, Tristan Wilson (Taya) of Reidsville and Chelsea Wilson (Savioue) of Eden; her brother, Paul Ellison (Sandy) of Eden; her sister-in-law, Cathy Ellison of Eden, her grandchildren, Destiny Peeler, Cameron Peeler, Isiah Peeler, Eliasz Wilson and Leilani; her nieces, Jenny, Brittany Faulkner, Tabatha Ellison and Marie Hopper (Shaun); her nephews, Justin Ellison, Chris McAleer, Kenneth Ayers (Julie), Richard Ellison and Wayne Ellison and her best friend, Lorilei Mason.

In addition to her parents, Sonya was predeceased by her brother, Ricky Ellison; her sister, Glenda Overby and her niece, Trina Lynn.

In lieu of flowers the family request donations be offered in memory of Sonya to the funeral home to help with funeral expenses.
