Taylor Junior Purdy, 74, of Eden passed away on Saturday, June 7, 2025, at Annie Penn Hospital.

A funeral service will be held at 1 pm Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at Bald Hill Baptist Church with burial following in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 pm on Tuesday at Boone & Cooke Funeral Home and other times at the residence.

Junior was born in Rockingham County on February 21, 1951, a son of Taylor Wilson Purdy and Gladys Lawson Purdy, both deceased.  He worked several places in his life including Stoneville Furniture Co., Airport Drive-In, tobacco farmer, Wilson's Restaurant, construction for his uncle, Marsh Furniture Co. and Rockingham County Schools where he retired in 2018. He had a great love for all his nieces and nephews.  He was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend.  He loved spending time with family.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his son, Taylor Wilson Purdy, Jr. and his sister, Cathy Vernon.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Phyllis of the home; his children, Rebecca Frye of Eden, Michelle Mock (Johnny) of Eden and James Purdy (Stacey) of Mayodan; his siblings, Paul Purdy (Carol) of Asheboro, Pat Hicks of Stokesdale, Sandra Plantz (Norman) of Stokesdale; his grandchildren, Brooke Purdy and fiancé Austin, C.J. Frye and girlfriend Ashley, Trystan Mock, Makayla Mock, Bailey Smith, Savannah Purdy, Brantley Purdy, Chelsea Inman (Tommy); and his great grandchildren, Traith Mock, Brantley Hicks, Melana Alley, Raelynn Land.
